The vision of IMMS is embodied in the slogan "One Platform, Infinite Impact." This vision reflects the belief that when individual researchers, capabilities, and research outcomes are connected through a unified platform, they can generate scientific and technological impacts far beyond those of isolated efforts.
Just as simple droplets converge to create complex waves, and individual neurons connect to form consciousness, the diverse members of our institute come together to generate new currents of scientific discovery. The connection of diverse people and research scales gives rise to emergence. The Institute for Multiscale Matter and Systems at Ewha Womans University is a space for emergent, interdisciplinary research, where individual expertise is transformed into collective intelligence.

Through the organic integration of Technical Groups (TG) and Core Projects (CP), IMMS provides a flexible, problem-driven research structure in which collective intelligence can emerge from the convergence of specialized expertise.
By automating the full research cycle—including hypothesis generation, experimental design, synthesis, characterization, data learning, and prediction—the Self-Driving Lab accelerates discovery while allowing human researchers to focus on creativity, insight, and strategic decision-making.
