Prof. Dong Ha Kim of IMMS has been selected as a March 2026 recipient of the Korean Science and Technology Award in recognition of his research achievements in next-generation supramolecular chiral optical devices and nanoscale control platforms.
The Korean Science and Technology Award recognizes researchers who have made significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology. Prof. Kim was recognized for developing fundamental technologies that enable precise control of the nature of light at the nanoscale, with potential applications in next-generation optical and information security technologies.

Prof. Kim’s research team developed a supramolecular system in which chiral information is precisely amplified from the molecular level to macroscopic structures through multiple hydrogen bonds between star-shaped polymers and chiral additives. Based on this platform, the team demonstrated nanoscale control of light polarization and achieved structural stability for more than 100 days, highlighting its potential for applications in next-generation displays, information security, bioimaging, and other advanced technologies.
IMMS will continue to advance innovative research at the intersection of nanoscience, optics, energy, and materials science, while fostering world-class research that translates fundamental discoveries into technologies with impact on future industries and society.
